Fishing Report- Spring 2012
Nature Coast fishing has been fantastic. Each time out on the flats gets even better results! Fish
that were in the tidal creeks and coves are now migrating to the varying depth flats. Normally, this time of year the
trout are scattered on the shallow flats, but this year, due to an abnormally warm winter, we have been catching trout in
the deeper-6-10 foot flats. Bait of choice has been 3/8 ounce jig with a white Gulp shrimp. Flounder has been caught on the
same flats, fairly consistently. The signs, such as large amount of sea turtle and manta ray should fortell the soon to arrive
Cobia and Tarpon. Snook and redfish are already in their usual hangouts 'grassy points and rock bars', which
are plentiful in the backwaters of the Nature Coast. Best backwater bait: live white bait, greenbacks, and pinfish will work
as well as topwater plugs ( MirrorLure Top Dogs, Rapala Skitterwalks, and Mirrodines suspending lures. Tight lines Captain Larry Roderick and Captain Morgan Roderick
